Arizona State star running back Cam Skattebo was the star of the Peach Bowl on Wednesday and helped boost his NFL draft stock. Skattebo was a key reason the Sun Devils forced double overtime against Texas in the CFP quarterfinal. The running back finished the game rushing for 143 yards and two touchdowns while adding 99 receiving yards and also threw for a touchdown.
After his performance, Skattebo will likely be a late draft pick and could try to crack an NFL roster. Once his playing career is done, Skattebo will look to work with young football players to help them reach the next level, according to his mom.
On Thursday, a fan on X had a special request for Skattebo's mom, Becky, writing:
"Becky, please tell your rather amazing son that I recommend that he follow Rocco Becht’s lead by holding running back camps around the nation to help high school running backs learn how to run through tackles, catch and run as a receiver and block like he does! The guy is awesome! This from an Iowa State fan!"
In response, Becky said the goal is for her son to work with kids once he's done playing football.
"I do think when he's done playing he will definitely gravitate back to work with younger players. He really enjoys it. He enjoys everything about the game," Becky Skattebo wrote.
Before that happens, Skattebo will be looking to make an NFL roster and continue his career as a pro. But once it's over, the star running back will give back to the next generation, according to his mom.
Skattebo finished the year rushing for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Will Cam Skattebo be drafted in the NFL?
Cam Skattebo is expected to be a Day 3 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
CBS Sports draft analyst Chris Trapasso has Skattebo as his 135th-ranked player and the eighth-best running back.
"Cam Skattebo is a stocky, power-packed running back with a stout build and tree-trunk legs, making him a force to bring down," Trapasso wrote. "His elite contact balance allows him to ricochet off defenders at any level of the field, consistently turning potential short gains into extended runs.
"Despite being primarily a power back, Skattebo possesses a surprising looseness and bounce in his lower half, enabling him to execute sharp jump cuts and outmaneuver defenders in tight spaces."
Trapasso claims Skattebo would be a good rotational NFL back and believes his player comparison would be Zack Moss.
