Ryan Williams has been a standout player for the Alabama Crimson Tide this season. This is even more noteworthy considering the freshman is only 17.
Before the Crimson Tide took on the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, Williams appeared in a video that Barstool Bama posted on X.
The video features Williams in collaboration with Baby Gronk.
Fans were not happy with this collaboration and reacted on X.
"Bama has fallen off," another fan tweeted.
"If there was a video that defined the end of a dynasty …." a fan tweeted.
"End of an era," another fan tweeted.
Ryan Williams might not have been an Alabama player
Ryan Williams has been the breakout star in college football this season. However, this may not have been the case.
Legendary Alabama coach Nick Saban's retirement was pivotal in many recruits' journey to college football. His decision to retire had an impact on the recruits whom he had got to commit to the University of Alabama.
Wiliams was one of these and spoke to Keyshawn Johnson about how he felt during this period.
"It, like, shattered my whole recruiting process because I'm born and raised from Alabama," he said. "I'm just like, ‘Man, what am I gonna do now?'"
Williams had originally decided to decommit from Alabama and head back into the recruitment cycle. However, Williams returned a few weeks later thanks to his high school coach.
"My high school coach knew coach DeBoer a little bit," Williams said. "He was like, ‘Just give him a chance. And then I talked to coach DeBoer, I was like, ‘Oh, we good.' The offense fit perfectly for a receiver. So I was just like, it ain't no reason for me to leave."
Ultimately, Williams' decision to stay with the team paid off. This season, he has recorded an impressive 767 receiving yards and has scored eight touchdowns.
Considering that he is only 17 and a freshman, Williams could be set to break many records in the future.
