Carson Beck was anticipated to enter the NFL draft in 2025 following his second season as a starter for the Georgia Bulldogs. However, the quarterback headed for the transfer portal instead, subsequently announcing his move to the Miami Hurricanes for his final season of eligibility in college football.
Beck will replace standout star and Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward on the Hurricanes’ offense in 2025. The quarterback is also transferring to the school of his girlfriend Hanna Cavinder. Hanna, alongside her twin sister Haley, plays for the university’s women's basketball team.

An unexpected twist for Carson Beck
Ahead of Georgia’s College Football Playoff campaign, Carson Beck announced he will be entering the 2025 NFL draft. The quarterback penned a heartfelt farewell message to the fans and everyone in the Bulldogs program since he arrived as a freshman in 2021.
“The past five years at the University of Georgia have been nothing short of a dream come true and I will forever cherish the memories that have been made,” Beck wrote. “Thank you Dawg Nation for the time I’ve been here and to those who’ve supported and believed in me, thank you.
“It’s been an incredible journey and all these moments have ultimately led me to take the next step in my football career. With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2025 NFL draft. Go Dawgs!" he added.
However, the quarterback made an unexpected U-turn by returning to college football for another season, and he will be doing it outside Athens. While Beck didn't live up to the offseason projections, he was still expected to transition onto the professional stage in 2025.
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Beck decided to transfer after learning his NFL draft projection by experts ranges from the first to the third round. The quarterback entered the 2024 season as an undoubted first-round pick and a potential No. 1 pick.
