The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs have their first bye week of the season ahead of their Week 4 SEC showdown against the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide on Sept. 28 in Tuscaloosa. The bye week comes at a good time as several players are trying to heal up with injuries.
Quarterback Carson Beck suffered an injury towards the end of the Kentucky game, but Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart says he is fine after practicing on Monday and Tuesday.
According to DawgsCentral, Beck suffered an AC joint sprain in his non-throwing shoulder, but the injury is not considered serious. Beck injured his shoulder on a run after falling on his elbow at the end of a 7-yard run.
Beck also said after the game he is fine but is thankful Georgia has their bye week.
"Thankfully we have a bye week, so we'll see," Beck said. "I'll be fine, but no, we'll see."
Through three games, Beck has gone 56-for-82 for 680 yards, seven touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The quarterback's Heisman odds have fallen (+1200, which is the sixth-best odds).
Kirby Smart gives an update on other injured Georgia players
Kirby Smart says he is hopeful to get Mykel Williams, Warren Brinson, Jordan Hall, and Xzavier McLeod back for the Alabama game.
"They're all working to come back. They're all doing the rehab process. Warren's really close. Warren's out there doing stuff now. Mykel's running, Jordan's running," Smart said, via 247Sports."
Getting Brinson back would be key for Georgia, and Smart says his rehab is going well.
"He looks good. Hopefully be able to go today. We'll find out more," Smart said last Monday. "I don't honestly know until we get out there, but seems to be good. And he did some stuff yesterday in the weight room."
Also, running back Trevor Etienne said his shoulder was "fine" after Saturday's game.
The Bulldogs will play Alabama on September 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Georgia is a 4.5-point favorite to defeat the Crimson Tide on the road in a pivotal SEC game in Week 5.
