The Georgia Bulldogs won 22–19 in overtime over the Texas Longhorns in the SEC Championship Game. Georgia enters the College Football Playoff as the No. 2 seed and a bye.

However, right before halftime, Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck suffered an injury and was out of the game. He only returned for one play when he handed the ball off to Trevor Etienne after Gunner Stockton had his helmet knocked off and had to leave for one play.

Although Georgia has a bye in the first round, meaning the Bulldogs will be off for nearly a month, Beck might not play in the playoffs.

ON3 college football insider Pete Nakos reported that Beck injured his UCL in his right elbow and is having a second opinion.

College football insider Zach Klein also reported that Beck has a UCL injury and expects Beck to miss the Sugar Bowl.

Georgia will play the winner of Notre Dame vs. Indiana in the Sugar Bowl on January 1 at 8:45 p.m. ET.

Kirby Smart bracing for news on Carson Beck

Georgia coach Kirby Smart spoke to reporters on Sunday afternoon and confirmed Carson Beck did undergo an MRI.

“I’m still trying to get that knowledge myself,” Smart said, via On3. “He did get to have an MRI this morning. We should get the results here in the next few hours. We just had a team meeting.
He was there for the team meeting, but we don’t know much more than we knew last night as of right now, but we should be finding out something here soon ... He’s also excited for his teammates and happy that it ended the way it did and ironically he got to be on the field for that.”

Before the injury, Beck went 7-for-13 for 56 yards. Beck has gone 290-for-448 for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season.

If Beck can't play in the Sugar Bowl, Stockton will be the team's starter. In relief of Beck in the SEC Championship Game, he went 12-for-16 for 71 yards and an interception.
