On Thursday, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck reportedly entered the transfer portal. Beck appeared to withdraw his decision to enter the 2025 NFL draft and instead, return to the collegiate level for another season.
While Miami appears to be the favorite program to land Beck in the offseason, the player's camp has dropped a thing about the signal-caller's next potential destination. Per ESPN's Pete Thamel, Beck's team plans to listen to all offers before making the most logical and viable call:
“It’s a strategic thing, not an emotional thing," the source said to Thamel.
At the start of the 2024 season, many believed that Beck would be among the frontrunners for the Heisman Trophy. Fans and analysts also predicted him to go as the top pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
However, Beck's recently concluded season with Georgia didn't go according to plan. The Bulldogs lost two games in the regular season and the quarterback even missed Georgia's only College Football Playoff game against Notre Dame on Jan. 2 due to injury.
Since Beck's draft stock would have dropped due to these factors in the 2024 season, he might be eager to return for one more year at the collegiate level and go as the top pick in the 2026 NFL draft. Furthermore, there is also a possibility that the QB could change his mind again and declare for this year's draft.
Carson Beck injury: What happened to Georgia QB?
Carson Beck suffered a UCL injury to his right elbow in the second quarter of Georgia's Southeastern Conference Championship Game against Texas on Dec. 7. He did not return in the second half and was replaced by Gunnar Stockton, who led the Bulldogs to a 22-19 win in overtime.
Beck underwent surgery for his elbow injury on Dec. 23 and was ruled out for Georiga's College Football Playoff run. The quarterback finished the season with 3,485 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions across 13 games.
However, the Bulldogs lost their first quarterfinal game in the playoffs to Notre Dame 23-10, effectively ending their season.
