QB Carson Beck led the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs to a 41-31 win against the struggling Mississippi State on Saturday, continuing their impressive 5-1 (3-1 SEC) run. Beck impressed again, completing 36 of 48 passes for a career-high 459 yards, the third most ever by a Georgia quarterback. He also scored three touchdowns and threw two interceptions.
Following his game-winning performance, Beck posted a series of action-packed game-time pictures. However, the first picture showed his iconic pose where he knelt on the field with his head bowed, and helmet on the ground. The last slide of the post featured a signboard stating,
"Walk by Faith. Doubt Nothing."
And, the caption of his Instagram post read:
"last lap 🖤⏳ #AO1"
While his fans rallied to support their quarterback, Carson Beck's mother, Tracy, also left an emotional comment, expressing how proud she was of her son's achievements. She commented:
"Crying! Can’t get past the first picture! So proud of YOU and your teammates. Have so much fun each and every game ….together you’ve got this! ❤️❤️❤️❤️"
Beck is playing his fifth season at Georgia and was a member of the Bulldogs during their two national championships in 2021 and 2022. Moreover, this is his final season with the program, as he is set to enter the 2025 NFL draft as a top prospect.
This season, they started strong, but their 41-34 loss to No. 7 Alabama earlier has raised questions about how the team will perform in the second half, where they will face some tough challenges.
Carson Beck faces biggest challenge yet in Week 8 showdown against No. 1 Texas Longhorns
The Bulldogs dwill play the No. 1 Texas Longhorns (6-0, 2-0), led by head coach Steve Sarkisian and ferocious quarterback Quinn Ewers, in Week 8. The SEC conference's biggest showdown of the season, this star-studded game is anticipated to draw large crowds for the league.
However, with the Longhorns going into Week 8 unbeaten and having won six straight, it will be one of Carson Beck's hardest games. But Texas is in for strong competition as well, facing an experienced quarterback and one of the best defenses in the league.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is well aware of Carson Beck's talent and is taking all the necessary precautions. On Monday's meeting with reportes, Sarkisian said:
“Carson Beck, I know really well. He was committed to us at Alabama, and then ultimately decommitted and went to went to Georgia."
"He’s a great young man. Military background from his father. He’s a big, strong kid, can make all the throws. He’s got a real presence in the pocket. And I think they have a scheme that fits him."
So far this season, Beck has completed 142 of 209 passes for 1,818 yards, scoring 15 touchdowns and throwing 5 interceptions. If Carson Beck leads Georgia to victory against the Longhorns, the Bulldogs will gain momentum as they are also set to play No. 18 Ole Miss and No. 11 Tennessee later in the season.
Texas vs. Georgia will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
