Louisville wide receiver Caullin Lacy suffered a broken collarbone during the team's final fall camp scrimmage. Mark Ennis announced on X that Lacy will miss 6–8 weeks due to the injury.

"Louisville announces WR Caullin Lacy is out 6-8 weeks with a broken collarbone."

This is a significant loss for the Cardinals, who were looking to build upon a 10-win season and an appearance in the ACC Championship under coach Jeff Brohm. If Lacy misses 6 weeks of gameplay, he should be available for the games against Austin Peay, Jacksonville State, Georgia Tech, and Notre Dame.

If Lacy stays out for 8 weeks, then he could miss the games against SMU and Virginia.

Caullin Lacy was expected to be a prime weapon for the Louisville Cardinals

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound receiver came to the Louisville Cardinals via the transfer portal this offseason and was expected to be a primary option in the passing game. Previously, when he played for South Alabama, he led the Jaguars with 91 receptions for 1,316 yards and 7 touchdowns.

He finished his career at South Alabama with 207 catches for 2,517 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Caullin Lacy was considered a four-star prospect in the transfer portal and was expected to help after the loss of Jamari Thrash. Thrash led the Cardinals with 69 catches for 85 yards last year.

Louisville's receiving options for 2024

The Cardinals do have plenty of choices in the wide receiver room, including Chris Bell, who caught 29 passes for 407 yards and two touchdowns last season.

The team also added Alabama transfer WR Ja'Corey Brooks, who appeared in only nine games with the Crimson Tide last year but finished the 2022 season with 39 receptions for 674 yards and eight touchdowns.

These players will need to step up in Lacy's absence to help the Louisville Cardinals maintain their offensive production.
