Travis Hunter is likely to be a top five and potentially a top three pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The Colorado Buffaloes star, who recently won the Heisman Trophy, has been able to establish himself as a key two-way player, playing both as a wide receiver and a cornerback.

However, Hunter is likely to have to choose which position he is going to play in the NFL. In the build up to Hunter's decision, college football analysts have been making comparisons to current NFL stars to give us an idea of where he ranks in each of his positions. One of these analysts is Emory Hunt. He went on CBS Sports on Friday to compare Hunter to two top NFL stars:

"His skill set, his size and his quickness, is more like Garrett Wilson, but his hands are like DeAndre Hopkins. You put him under the microscope as a defensive back. He is Trevon Diggs, but his is Sauce Gardner in terms of coverage ability."

In the last couple of seasons, the four players that Hunt mentioned in comparison to Hunter have all been essential parts of their respective teams.

Wilson and Gardner have been some of the only bright spots for the struggling New York Jets as of late. This year, Wilson leads the team in receiving yards, while Gardner is one of the team's best cornerbacks. While their team's performances do not say a lot, their performances are good.

DeAndre Hopkins has been an occasional target for the star-studded Kansas City Chiefs offense, but he was a key player when he was with the Houston Texans.

By comparing Hunter to these players, Hunt is saying that, as expected, Hunter is going to be a player who is going to make a strong impact on whatever team he is on and should be able to make a challenge for Rookie of the Year in his first season, just as the pair from the Jets did a few years back.

Brock Vereen compares Travis Hunter to an unlikely player

However, former NFL defensive back Brock Vereen has compared Travis Hunter to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

"Watching him is like watching Josh Allen. People are supposed to stop being able to do this in high school. It looks like he is playing at a different speed than everyone else. It just looks like there is a level of confidence in that, 'I am so much stronger and more athletic than anyone else out here, that I can process things at a slower rate, because I do not have to question my athletic abilities.' That guy is different."

While he is not suggesting that Hunter should play quarterback, Vereen is saying that the two are similar in terms of athletic skills.

Both Allen and Hunter have been able to make some truly outstanding plays this season, something that many others would not be able to do.

Fans will be able to see more of these plays when Hunter and his Colorado Buffaloes face the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl this weekend.
