One of the players expected to grace the cover of the EA Sports College Football 25 game was Alabama Crimson Tide star Jalen Milroe due to a stellar season last time out. Instead, the cover athletes picked included Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers, Michigan Wolverines running back Donovan Edwards and Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Travis Hunter.
While the wildly popular game will be released on July 19, the official trailer for it was dropped on Friday, and hawkeyed fans spotted every addition, image and clip in the gameplay.
One of the motion clips showed Bama's Jalen Milroe getting sacked, and college football fans spotted the moment in the flurry of clips during the trailer, and there were mixed reactions to it.
"They did Jalen Milroe dirty with that sack," a fan posted.
College Football 25 returns with a bang
The EA Sports College Football 25 has been one of the most anticipated games ever since the NIL era in college sports dawned in 2021, allowing the iconic game a route back after being inundated with antitrust lawsuits before it produced its last version in 2013.
Student-athletes will be compensated for the use of their names, images and likenesses with every featured player due $600 and a copy of the game, while the cover stars signed NIL deals with EA Sports.
The game will be available on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, but there will not be a PC version available.
The franchise announced that the standard base game would retail at $69.99, the deluxe version would go for $99.99 and have a three-day early access option and finally, the MVP bundle would retail at $149.99, with an early release for Madden and EA Sports College Football 25.
One of the cover models for the video game is Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter. After the announcement of the game's release date, he gave an interview to ESPN, reminiscing about how much the video game meant to him as a child.
“It’s just a blessing to be able to be on the cover,” Hunter said. “We grew up watching this and looking at the covers, and now we’re on it. When I was young, I waited till 12 o’clock to get every NCAA. It was my favorite game by far. I still play the old NCAA 14 to this day.”
For the first time in the franchise's history, the cover models will feature players who are still active in college football, and the reaction to the comeback of the iconic game from fans has been enthusiastic, to say the least.
