Colorado's two-way star Travis Hunter continued his hot streak during the Buffaloes' impressive 48-21 blowout win against the UCF Knights in Week 5 of college football action. Once again, Hunter provided the game's enduring image.
After an impressive interception midway through the third quarter, the talented star jogged to the end zone and did the Heisman Trophy celebration after extensive calls from both fans and analysts alike anointing him as the 2024 winner.
Hunter registered 88 yards on nine receptions with one touchdown against the Knights. He added two tackles and one interception on the other side of the ball as well.
Hunter's iconic pose was added to the popular EA Sports College Football 25 game in a recent update. The Buffs player is one of the cover stars in the game.
College football fans in the post's Instagram comments had mixed reactions to the celebration on EA Sports College Football 25.
Some fans were not too fussed about the graphics and were instead hyped over the legendary pose by Hunter being introduced into the game.
Travis Hunter backed for Heisman by popular analyst
Hunter's stellar performances this season have elevated him into the conversation for the Heisman Trophy, which is bound to be competitive, with quarterbacks like the Texas Longhorns' Quinn Ewers and Georgia Bulldogs' Carson Beck also in the mix.
On an episode of ESPN's "First Take," analyst Stephen A. Smith was full of praise for Hunter and tabbed him as his favorite for the Heisman Trophy this year.
“I want to be on the record saying this,” Smith said. “I think that Travis Hunter should be the leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy, I really do. On both sides of the ball, this brother is special. He’s a playmaker on both sides of the ball, a difference-maker on both sides of the ball. He can be a lockdown defender when you ask him to as well."
Smith further highlighted the fact that Hunter was playing under one of the greatest two-way players that the sport has ever seen, Colorado coach Deion Sanders.
"From the cornerback position, the brother’s spectacular. And it’s so ironic that his coach is ‘Prime Time’ Deion Sanders because he was one of the brothers that could do that on both the collegiate and professional level, obviously in his Hall of Fame career. That’s what Hunter brings to the table,” Smith said.
Hunter is currently the No. 3 favorite to win the Heisman Trophy with odds of +750 just behind Jalen Milroe and Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward.
