College football insider Stewart Mandel has aimed a cheeky dig at Paul Finebaum, in an attempt to expose the SEC analyst's bias toward his conference.
Mandel took to X on Thursday and quote-tweeted a video of Finebaum belittling Nebraska coach Matt Rhule for his comments at the Cornhuskers' Big Ten media day.
"Matt Rhule, Deion Sanders, Ryan Day. Paul's recent targets seem to have one thing in common - the conference they're not in," Mandel wrote.
Earlier this week, Finebaum made headlines after suggesting that Colorado coach Deion Sanders would be an ideal replacement for Lincoln Riley if USC parted ways with the coach. He also said that the Buffaloes were 'irrelevant' in the bigger picture of college football.
Finebaum also recently criticized Ohio State coach Ryan Day for allowing Michigan to coast to three consecutive Big Ten championships.
Finebaum's latest target was Matt Rhule.
What did Paul Finebaum say about Matt Rhule?
Paul Finebaum was brought in for ESPN's Get Up on Friday to discuss some of the comments by coaches at the Big Ten media days, including Nebraska's Matt Rhule.
Finebaum is known as the voice of the SEC. He appeared to be slightly unsettled by Rhule's suggestion that the 12-team College Football Playoff should feature four teams from the Big Ten each year. He then had his say on the matter.
“Matt, stay in your lane. Job 1, win enough games to get to some stupid bowl game,” Finebaum said. “Don’t worry about the big boys because you’re not one of them.
"We saw what you did in the NFL; you were a complete disaster in Carolina. You somehow got this job in Nebraska. And you’re talking like you belong at the table with Ohio State and Georgia — you don’t. Just try to win maybe six games, quit choking big games on the final play, and leave the punditry to the professionals. Thank you.”
Judging by Finebaum's comments, the SEC analyst appeared to take issue with Rhule and his Nebraska team, rather than focus on the coach's suggestion.
