College football insider and analyst Terrence Oglesby shared his early Big 12 predictions, and he doesn't think the season will go well for coach Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes. Colorado is coming off a disappointing 4-8 season after starting the year 3-0 in Sanders' first year as coach. The Buffs will also now be joining the Big 12 to make their schedule that much harder.
With the 2024 college football season set to begin in less than a month, Oglesby shared his way too early Big 12 predictions and has Colorado finishing last in the conference.
Here's how Oglesby ranked the Big 12 teams:
- Kansas
- Iowa State
- Baylor
- Houston
- Arizona
- Cincinnati
- Texas Tech
- Kansas State
- BYU
- West Virginia
- Arizona State
- TCU
- UCF
- Oklahoma State
- Utah
- Colorado
The Buffaloes do have a tough schedule that features games against Nebraska, Baylor, Kansas State, Arizona, Texas Tech, Utah, Kansas and Oklahoma State.
Although Oglesby has Colorado finishing last in the Big 12, the oddsmakers don't agree. Instead, they have Baylor, Cincinnati, Arizona State, Houston and BYU all below Colorado in their odds of winning the Big 12. The Buffaloes are given +2800 odds, which implies a 3.4% chance of clinching the conference title.
Deion Sanders says he and Colorado are judged differently
Deion Sanders and Colorado took the college football world by storm last season, as the school started 3-0. However, the Buffaloes went 1-8 down the stretch to not even be bowl-eligible.
Entering 2024, Sanders says he's judged differently, as are his players.
"I'm judged on a different scale," Sanders said at Big 12 media day (via Coloradoan). "My wins are totally different than your wins. Your wins, you just judge football, that's why I start out give you education and academics and so forth, I have to give you those things so you understand there's a greater scope.
"I can't win nine games and our GPA suffers. Our GPA can't be high and we lose another eight games. We can't not go and grab high school players, and you've got a bunch of guys in the portal, out of the portal getting incarcerated. My wins are different. We have to win in every area. That's the way we're judged. I'm cool with that because we come at it a little different."
Sanders and Colorado will open their 2024 college football season at home on Aug. 29 against North Dakota State.
