Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Travis Hunter is one of the cover stars of EA Sports College Football 25. However, when he was trying his hand at the game, the talented WR let slip a comment which has generated some controversy.
Hunter, one of the stars of Deion Sanders' Buffaloes, was live-streaming the game for a promotional event. During this activity, he made a comment that can be regarded as critical of his teammates, specifically the Buffaloes' offensive line.
Hunter was asked during the gameplay if the Buffaloes' offensive line in real life struggles as much as the virtual version at that moment of gameplay. In reply to this, Hunter said that the Buffaloes' offensive line:
"can't block nobody"
This incident was spoken about during the latest edition of The Right Time with Bomani Jones, where the host said this about Hunter's conduct:
"What is Deion telling these boys is my question. I never remembered Deion Sanders talking bad about his teammates, and Deion Sanders played on some bad teams. I don't remember him ever publicly shaming the squad... You can't have these boys acting like this."
The comments that were made by Travis Hunter have not gone down well in the college football community. An almost unwritten rule is to never talk negatively about your teammates in public, and Hunter broke this rule.
Incidents like this add to the almost constant drama that has been coming out of the Buffaloes program ever since Deion Sanders took charge.
Why may have Travis Hunter criticized the offensive line?
The Buffaloes offensive line did have many struggles during the 2023 season, and these may have played a large role in the team registering only a four-win season.
It is then no surprise that Deion Sanders decided to completely rebuild the offensive line in order to protect quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The latter is one of college football's most exciting quarterbacks currently.
During the off-season, Sanders has been able to bring in a new offensive line coach, Phil Loadholt. He has also brought in many new members of the offensive line via the transfer portal, such as the former Indiana Hoosier Kahil Benson.
However, this offensive line is not perfect, and its mix of talents will take some time for the players to come together as one effective unit.
These players are trying to work with not a lot and should not be shamed by a fellow teammate for their attempts.
