Coach Prime took over the head coaching job in Colorado in 2023. Since arriving he has brought immediate attention to the program. Once viewed as one of the worst college football programs in the country, the Colorado Buffaloes are now able to attract premier recruits from high school and the transfer portal.

After a disappointing first season where the team went 4-8, Deion Sanders led the team to a bowl game appearance in 2024. Although the team lost to No. 17-ranked BYU, the Alamo Bowl was a huge draw. Eight million people tuned in to watch the game, the most of a non-CFP/NY6 Bowl since the 2020 Citrus Bowl between Michigan and Alabama.

Analyst Cory Yates went on X to say that Coach Prime is not being paid enough for the money he is helping the Buffaloes make.

Several fans responded, sharing their opinions on Coach Prime's stint in Boulder.

"It was an impressive marketing campaign!," one fan wrote.
"My kids are at CU Boulder. Coach Prime is an absolute legend! They all love him! In fact, we sat behind him at dinner earlier this year and it’s clear the whole of Boulder loves and respects him," one fan commented.
"Great coach and great human being who truly cares about his players and people in general. I’m a big Deion fan," one fan added.

However, other fans voiced their disagreement, saying Coach Prime has not accomplished much on the field through two seasons.

"He's 13 and 12 with no wins vs top 30 teams tho," one fan wrote.
"Yall think he should be one of the highest paid coaches just to go 13-12 in 2 years? lmao. I thought coaches needed to win to get paid more. I guess not," one fan commented.
"All hype no real accomplishments," one fan added.

Alamo Bowl was a disappointment for Coach Prime and the Buffaloes despite its commercial success

While having Coach Prime as the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes helps the team get better TV ratings, the Alamo Bowl was a disappointment.

The team failed to stay competitive with BYU despite having more star power. They lost the game 36-14 in the last game two-way star Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders played for the team.

Deion Sanders has done a good job of turning the team around and getting it media attention, but it has not gotten it to the level of other top programs yet.
