The Colorado Buffaloes were dragged to a thrilling win by the heroics of quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter. The Buffs won their first Big 12 game 38-31 against the Baylor Bears in a stirring Week 4 comeback that was sealed in overtime.
The Buffs were on the verge of losing the game before a miracle play by their maverick quarterback saw him throw a Hail Mary pass to wide receiver LaJohntay Wester, who caught the touchdown pass to force overtime.
College football fans on X had mixed reactions to Shedeur Sanders finding Wester with the desperation pass that forced overtime.
Some fans lauded the brilliance of the Buffs quarterback after making that play.
"Shadeur just locked in the #1 pick in September with that play. LMAOO THAT WAS INSANE. COLORADO IS SO A** OUTSIDE OF SHADEUR AND TRAVIS," one fan said.
"WHAT A PLAY OMG," another fan said.
"AMAZING," one fan said.
Shedeur Sanders' heroics make Deion Sanders emotional
When the Deion and Shedeur Sanders show rolled into town, the duo took the FBS by storm after years at Jackson State. The Colorado Buffaloes started the season 3-0 with several impressive displays that made them media darlings and the talk of the college football world before their season fell off the rails and ended in a 4-8 record.
During his postgame news conference, Coach Prime was emotional while talking about how the game had unfolded, recalling the Buffs' flawless start to the 2023 season.
"It kind of threw us back to last year a little bit, didn't it? Like that nostalgia, that's the way stuff was starting last year," Deion Sanders said, referring to Colorado's 3-0 start to his tenure. "I'm like, 'Man, I'm going gray, what you trying to do to me, fellas?' It was a tough one. This press conference could be totally different right now, but I'm excited that we won."
The Buffs started the 2024 season sluggishly, with a narrow 31-26 win against the North Dakota State Bison followed by a limp display in Lincoln in a 28-10 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Criticism has been leveled at Colorado for seemingly not progressing after two chaotic years under Coach Prime during which the Buffs have utilized the transfer portal more than any other team in college football.
Shedeur Sanders has stepped up his game in the last two games, dragging his team to wins against Rocky Mountain rivals Colorado State Rams and Big 12 opponents Baylor Bears to reignite the Buffaloes' season.
