The eagerly anticipated EA Sports College Football 25 is two weeks away from its release, and the 11-year wait for football fans is finally almost over. The franchise has been releasing bits and pieces of what fans can expect in the video game over the past few weeks, which has only increased the anticipation.
Most recently, the publishers announced the offensive power rankings of the top 25 programs featured in the game.
The Georgia Bulldogs might not have made last year's College Football Playoff after being beaten by the Alabama Crimson Tide, but they're still considered the eminent force in college football after winning two of the last three national championships.
The Bulldogs have quarterback Carson Beck to pull the strings, complimented by a stout offensive line and a few star players returning, including highly-rated running back Trevor Etienne.
The rest of the top 10 includes Oregon, Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, LSU, Miami, Colorado, Missouri and Clemson.
Of course, such rankings often promote heated debate among fans who question why their rivals and their teams are, ranked where they are and this was no different on X.
Check out some of the reactions:
Most fans questioned why certain teams were not included in the top 10.
"Colorado over Ole Miss is CRAZY," one fan tweeted.
"No Tennessee???" another fan tweeted.
"Ole Miss is tied with Penn St? List invalid," one fan tweeted.
"Colorado anywhere near the top 50 would be outlandish, but 8th? That's gotta be engagement farming or a cruel joke to people who watch cfb," a fan posted.
"Smu smu is rated higher than … Michigan?" a comment read.
"This game is disrespecting Michigan in every info release.. are they at least 5 stars?" another fan wrote.
EA Sports College Football 25 offensive rankings broken down
In the EA Sports College Football 25 offensive rankings, the Georgia Bulldogs are tied for first place with coach Dan Lanning's Oregon Ducks (94). The Ducks acquired highly-rated quarterback Dillon Gabriel from the transfer portal via the Oklahoma Sooners, and his experience no doubt played a part in the ranking.
The Alabama Crimson Tide might be entering a new era with the retirement of coach Nick Saban, but new coach Kalen DeBoer is known for his expansive and inventive offenses.
The Tide will also have the benefit of having highly-rated quarterback Jalen Milroe leading their offense, and he could prove to be a popular choice for fans of the game due to his dual-threat abilities. They are ranked third with an overall of 91.
The Southeastern Conference still reigns supreme in the popular game's rankings, with five of the top 10 offenses hailing from the much-heralded conference.
The excitement surrounding the impending release of the EA Sports College Football 25 is only helped by the discourse that surrounds the different metrics used to rank teams and the passion of the game's fans in dissecting them.
