The North Dakota State Bison are Football Championship Subdivision royalty, winning nine of the last 13 national championships to establish a mighty college football dynasty. The last time that they won a national championship was in 2021.

In the AFCA FCS Preseason Coaches Poll, the Bison are ranked No. 2, just behind the South Dakota Jackrabbits, who won the national championship last season. The season promises to be a blockbuster with the former champions seeking to recapture their lost glories to the new challengers to their dynasty.

The North Dakota State Bison face coach Deion Sander's revamped Colorado Buffaloes on Aug. 29 to start the new season in what promises to be a blockbuster season for both teams.

College football fans on X had mixed reactions to the preseason poll.

Several fans saw the jeopardy facing Colorado in the Week 1 clash.

"Colorado losing that one," one fan tweeted.
"North Dakota St ML vs Colorado easiest play on the week 1 board," another fan tweeted.
"Colorado better understand NDSU will come to play. Couple of coaches on that NDSU team that I’m rooting for," one fan tweeted.

Deion Sanders wary of facing FCS power North Dakota State

The Buffs' Week 1 clash against the Bison is seen as a potential trap game, and Colorado is only favored by 8.5 points, according to BetMGM, showing the difficulty of the clash.

During the Big 12's media days last month, Colorado coach Deion Sanders took the event by storm rapping his way into the event. His views on his team's season opener against the North Dakota State Bison were an eye-opener, showing the threat of the FCS power.

“They’re really darned good,” Sanders said. “I’m mad at (CU athletic director) Rick (George) for putting them on the schedule, to open up with them. Can you give me a layup or something? Those guys are wonderful.
"Their staff has always been amongst the best. Many people have matriculated from that staff to go to higher levels. Those kids play their butts off. They play tough. They don’t make many mistakes. They’re accustomed to winning. They don’t give a darned about being at home or on the road. That doesn’t faze them whatsoever.
“We can’t wait to see them. It’s going to be a phenomenal game, phenomenal matchup. That program is second to none.”

The Buffaloes are under a harsher spotlight than last year to finally level up and register a winning campaign after last year's disappointing 4-8 record and a Week 1 loss to the highly rated Bison would put a dampener on a promising season.

The clash against the media darlings, the Colorado Buffaloes, will be shown on ESPN, giving the North Dakota Bison a huge platform to showcase their talent to a huge college football fanbase.
