Penn State's defense did a lot to stop Boise State's Ashton Jeanty in the Fiesta Bowl on Tuesday. The Nittany Lions defeated Boise State 31-14 to advance to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff. However, the running back's performance dominated postgame talks.

Jeanty was limited to 104 yards with no touchdowns on 30 carries in the worst output in what has been a successful season for him, leading to criticism from fans.

Amid the backlash Ashton Jeanty is getting, his girlfriend, Gabrielle Miller, offered some words of encouragement on Wednesday. Posting a graphic of the running back's statistics for the season, she expressed her pride in what he's been able to achieve for the Broncos in 2024.

Ashton Jeanty discloses what's responsible for Boise State's loss

Ashton Jeanty offered his opinion on what he feels was responsible for Boise State's loss in the Fiesta Bowl on Tuesday. In his postgame news conference, the running back believes the Broncos' inability to move the ball as they used to hamper their ability to perform.

“Just movement,” Jeanty said. “That’s one thing we struggled with was movement. They have a great D-line, front seven. It wasn’t really that they did anything extraordinary. They executed, they tackled. We didn’t play our best, I didn’t take care of the ball. So, that’s why we were unable to get the job done.”

The opening half of the game saw a quiet performance from Jeanty, who mustered just 40 yards on 13 carries. His lackluster showing disrupted Boise State’s offensive flow and symbolized the team’s broader struggles against a disciplined and unyielding Penn State defense.

Amid the disappointment in Glendale, Arizona, on Tuesday night, Ashton Jeanty displayed his humility. He expressed gratitude for the season's triumphs and the collective efforts that led Boise State to the Fiesta Bowl.

“This season has been a blessing,” Jeanty said. “God’s favor has been upon me and all my teammates all year. I’m just thankful. Obviously, we didn’t come away with the result that we (wanted). Not just me, but a lot of guys on this team did special things all year.”

Jeanty finished the season with 2,601 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns. While the outcome was not in their favor, his recognition of his fortune and the camaraderie within the team reflected a spirit of resilience and a deep appreciation for the journey they shared.
