Cade Klubnik is entering his second year as the starting quarterback of the Clemson Tigers. His development has been praised by coach Dabo Swinney, who discussed Klubnik's offseason progression during the team's Media Outing & Open House at the Allen N. Reeves Football Complex last week.
“He had a great spring. He really did. You know, we don’t put a lot on the spring game – good or bad. It’s just one of 15 days. It’s really the one day where kind of everything is diluted. You know, we evaluate him on what we’ve seen each and every day. Even the summer is a part of it,” said Swinney.
Though Swinney believes that Klubnik has done what they wanted him to do to improve his game, the QB always had the drive in him.
“He, in our eyes, has taken the next step that we need to see to this point. Now it’s got to go happen on the field. That’s what you want to see. That’s what it’s all about, you know.”
After DJ Uiagalelei transferred to the Florida State Seminoles on December 24, 2022, Klubnik started 13 games for the Tigers in 2023. He completed 63.9% of his throws for 2,844 yards and 19 touchdowns as he led the team to a 9-4 record.
Cade Klubnik held a free camp for young fans
The Clemson player held a free football camp on Saturday, July 20, at Walhalla High School. Through the Cade Klubnik Youth Football Camp, he shared his knowledge of football with about 200 kids from ages 6 to 16.
“I know what it's like to be that age and have a chance to do things like this,” said Cade Klubnik, as per Greenville News. “My dream was always to play college football, which is what I’m doing now. This is when those dreams start.”
His teammates—Tristan Leigh, Ryan Linthicum, Blake Miller, Cade Denhoff, Shelton Lewis, RJ Mickens, Cole Turner and Antonio Williams—joined him in leading the camp and giving back to the community.
