Colorado star Travis Hunter beat Ashton Jeanty, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel to be crowned the Heisman winner this season. This was his second campaign with the Buffs and he helped them secure Bowl game eligibility with a 9-3 record in the Big 12.

After a disappointing 4-8 campaign last season, Travis Hunter and the Buffs are now gearing up for their Alamo Bowl showdown against BYU. During the Heisman ceremony on Saturday in New York, he was crowned as the best player in college football.

After his victory, former LSU women's basketball star Angel Reese took to social media to congratulate Hunter on his achievement. In her tweet, the Chicago Sky star stated she became emotional after seeing Hunter win the Heisman.

"Why am I crying im so happy for Travis man!!," Reese wrote.

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders endorsed Angel Reese's tweet on X. Coach Prime had a one-word reaction to Reese's congratulatory message.

"Amen!!!"

This season, the Colorado two-way star recorded 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns receiving on offense and 32 total tackles along with four interceptions and 11 pass breakups on defense. According to several sources, he also had the best odds to be crowned as the Heisman winner.

Hunter will gear up one last time for Colorado during their Alamo Bowl showdown against BYU. He is also projected to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He received 552 first-place votes with a total of 2,231 points. Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty came second with 309 first-place votes and 2,017 points.

Travis Hunter gets emotional with heart-warming message for his father after winning the Heisman

During his acceptance speech, the Colorado two-way star expressed gratitude to his team, family and friends for always believing in him and his capabilities. Hunter also gave a special shout-out to his father who couldn't attend the Heisman ceremony in New York.

Hunter dedicated this win to his father for his sacrifice and support during his journey as a rising football star.

"I want to say something to my father. He's not here and be able to make it, but I know you watching on TV," Hunter said. "Dad, I love you. All the stuff you went through...I did it for you, man. All the times that you didn't get to see me, or the time you came to see my games."
"From seeing probably two games in high school to seeing me on TV every weekend and coming to see me, that means to much to me. I know you wanted to be here and you can't. But trust me, I got you. I'm bringing the trophy home."

Travis Hunter has solidified as one of the best players in college football. It will be interesting to see if he will continue playing on both sides of the ball during his professional journey in the NFL.
