Alabama A&M guard Shelomi Sanders is the daughter of Coach Prime and his ex-wife Pilar Sanders. She brought humor to her mom’s heartwarming Instagram post after her standout performance in the team’s season opener.

Shelomi Sanders helped Alabama A&M women's basketball secure a 96–50 win over Oakwood University on Monday night, contributing 14 points, two steals, a block and a rebound.

Pilar Sanders celebrated her daughter's performance with an Instagram post.

“AND YEP JUST LIKE THAT! THE BABY OF THE BUNCH EMERGES! It’s basketball season ya’ll!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO MY @aamuwbb FOR THEIR LANDSLIDE WIN 96 - 50 AND TO MY BABY GURRRL @shelomisanders FOR A GREAT START TO WHAT WE’VE ALL BEEN READY FOR! GREAT GAME,” she wrote on Tuesday.

Shelomi Sanders responded with a playful ogre emoji, referencing a character from Japanese folklore, adding her twist to the celebration.

In a separate Instagram post on Nov. 6, Sanders shared a video of her scoring from the side during the Oakwood game, captioning it with a simple kiss emoji.

Her mom Pilar Sanders commented:

Pilar Sanders' daughter Shelomi in a dominant win over Oakwood University

Shelomi Sanders, daughter of Deion Sanders, put on a show. While senior Lauryn Pendleton added 17 points, Shelomi contributed 14. Sophomore Aniya Palmer anchored the Bulldog defense, grabbing seven rebounds and making three steals, with senior Kourtney Rittenberry leading the team in assists.

The Bulldogs owned the paint, scoring 42 points inside and 31 points from their bench. Madison McDonald led Oakwood with 14 points, while Saniya Keys grabbed six rebounds. The Ambassadors scored 18 points in the paint and had a short seven-point run early in the first half.

Rittenberry opened the scoring for AAMU, and after an early 5–5 tie, Pendleton’s scoring pushed the lead to 13–5. Oakwood closed in at 15–14, but two turnovers and a defensive rebound helped AAMU regain control, ending the first quarter ahead 24–17.

The Bulldogs kept up the momentum in the second quarter, outscoring Oakwood 26–8. Wilson added eight points, three rebounds and a steal during a six-minute Oakwood scoring drought, giving AAMU a solid 49–20 lead. Sanders nailed a buzzer-beating three to close the half at 52–25, with the Bulldogs in full control.

AAMU leaned on its defense in the second half, grabbing 13 rebounds and seven steals. Oakwood struggled to keep up, and the Bulldogs extended their lead to 70–38 by the end of the third quarter. Wilson led in scoring in the third, adding 12 points, while Shelomi delivered an 11-point fourth quarter, sealing the 96–50 victory.

Alabama A&M will face the No. 24 Alabama on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the AAMU Event Center.
