Shelomi Sanders is starting the year on an exciting note. The college basketball player had a memorable year in 2024 for a host of reasons and also wants to make 2025 count.
On Thursday on Instagram, the basketball star flaunted her physique in a stylish two-piece workout set while demonstrating an exercise band routine at the gym. The post was made in partnership with superstar singer Rihanna’s lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty.
“Ready to start the New Year off strong in my @savagexfenty Running Hot romper and Supple Flex set #savagexambassador #FITTOBEYOU," Shelomi wrote in the caption.
The post caught the attention of Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders. The coach dropped a two-word reaction in the comments session, hyping up his daughter in the photo taken inside a gym.
“Daddy face,” Coach Prime wrote.
Shelomi Sanders had a reply to her father's comment. The Alabama A&M guard wrote a three-word reply, showcasing his admiration for her father's words.
“Daboo Daboo Daboo,” Shelomi wrote.
Shelomi Sanders is feeling fulfilled at Alabama A&M
Shelomi Sanders made the bold step of transferring from Colorado in 2024. Having her father and brothers in Boulder, it was a difficult decision to leave, especially as it came with her father's objection. However, it's been a decision worthwhile with her career revitalized.
In a live stream session in August 2024, Shelomi explained her decision to leave Colorado. It turned out that she never felt at home with the Buffaloes women's basketball team, necessitating a move away from the program.
“For me, I would say, yeah, last year during the beginning where I just came home sad every day," Shelomi said. "I was sad and mad like every day.”
“I don’t want to say anything too bad. It just wasn’t good energy. It wasn’t good vibes. There wasn’t enough being poured into me as a player and young lady. If I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would’ve quit.”
Contrary to her situation at Colorado, Shelomi Sanders is thriving at Alabama A&M. She’s taking her basketball career to a new level this season, playing all 14 games this season for A&M (9-5, 2-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference). She played just two games for Jackson State and five at Colorado. She's averaging 1.4 points in 4.8 minutes per game.
Sanders seems to have found a much better environment to grow and excel, both on and off the court. She will be counting on this over the next few seasons before her eligibility runs out.
