Shelomi Sanders is stepping up her game this season with Alabama A&M, and her performance against the Kansas City Roos made her parents, Pilar Sanders and Deion Sanders, proud. Her parents couldn’t hold back their excitement after Shelomi shared a clip on Instagram highlighting her first points of the season.
During Tuesday’s showdown, she played a career-high eight minutes. The Bulldogs were up 26-19 late in the first half when Shelomi broke through two defenders with a smooth drive, launching a balanced floater that found its mark. She posted a slow-motion clip of the moment on her Instagram, and Pilar quickly reposted the clip on her story with heart stickers.
Coach Prime jumped into the mix with a loving comment on Shelomi’s post, saying,
“Love you baby! BELIEVE!!!!”
Since transferring from Colorado, Shelomi has seen a lot more playing time under Bulldogs coach Dawn Thornton, who sees her potential as a solid 3-point shooter and valuable offensive player. Tuesday night’s game was just the latest in Shelomi’s steady rise at Alabama A&M.
Deion Sanders wasn't happy with Shelomi Sanders' decision to leave Colorado
Shelomi Sanders announced her transfer to Alabama A&M, sparking a publicized rift with her father, Deion Sanders. Known for being hands-on with his children's careers, Deion was reportedly less than thrilled with her decision to leave the Colorado Buffaloes. In fact, Deion didn’t mince words, calling the transfer “stupid.”
Shelomi Sanders, however, stood firm on her decision, explaining that her transfer was about prioritizing her growth as an athlete. She opened up in a live stream, sharing how challenging the previous season had been and hinting at the “bad energy” she’d felt in her previous environment. With her mother, Pilar Sanders, backing her, Shelomi moved on from Colorado.
“If I didn’t leave when I did,” she said. “I promise you, I would’ve quit.”
