Colorado coach Deion Sanders, aka "Coach Prime," celebrated a milestone as an FBS coach after his team beat the Cincinnati Bearcats 34-23 on Saturday night. The Buffs became bowl-eligible for the first time since 2016 with the win, expunging the misery of last season's collapse to 4-8 after a promising 3-0 start.
As usual, before the game, Folsom Field had its fair share of celebrities among the fans. Sanders shared a word and a hug with Tre Tre Thornton, the son of the late rapper Young Dolph, who was shot dead in 2021. The rapper referenced Coach Prime in some of his songs before he was shot and killed outside a cookie shop in Memphis, Tennessee.

After the game, Folsom Field was electric after achieving bowl eligibility, fulfilling a promise Coach Prime made to fans, including Buffs superfan Peggy Coppom, aka "Miss Peggy," at the beginning of the season.
"We told her (Miss Peggy) she's going to a bowl," Sanders said. "Now we want to make sure she goes to the best possible bowl that she could possibly go to. That means a lot to us, that really does. She was so appreciative and thankful. She means so much to this program, so we're glad we could honor her in that.
"Now we've just gotta get a private plane to make sure she's comfortable on the way there. Yeah, we ain't putting Peggy on a regular plane, I promise you that."
Coach Prime gears up to end season on a high note
Coach Prime was in high spirits after the game during his news conference, and he promised Colorado fans that the team is not yet playing to its full potential. With five AP Top 25 teams losing in Week 9 of college football action, there's a chance that the Buffaloes could move into the rankings for the first time this season.
Sanders curiously had an odd request for the selectors of the ranked teams regarding voting for the Buffaloes.
"We don't even want to be ranked. Don't rank us, please," Sanders said. "We don't like that. We'd rather be at the back, in the dark, just chilling in the cut. We good, we cool, we straight. So don't feel pressure to rank us."
Bookmakers favor the undefeated Iowa State Cyclones and the BYU Cougars to be the teams in the Big 12 championship game, but with four games remaining for Coach Prime's team, the Colorado Buffaloes cannot be ruled out of contention either.
