Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders has taken every opportunity to promote his sons Shilo and Shedeur Sanders since he arrived in Boulder. The hype surrounding the Pro Football Hall of Famer has made his sons some of the most recognizable faces in college sports.
But his firstborn, Deion Sanders Jr., aka "Bucky," has also become renowned due to his attachment to the Buffaloes team. Although he stopped playing football in 2015 after a three-year career for the SMU Mustangs, Bucky has remained in the limelight as the Coach Prime effect has swept through college football.
Deion Jr. is the man behind the "Well Off Media" YouTube channel that has turned the Buffs into one of the most visible teams in college sports. Most recently, he was on the end of some banter with his famous father on Instagram.
On Tuesday, Coach Prime posted a picture of his son's Nike Air DT Max '96 red variant with a hilarious caption.
"I found these in your office, you might as well let me wear these to Miami tomorrow - @deionsandersjr (I asked you on here because you can’t say no in front of everybody)," Coach Prime wrote.
While Bucky didn't leave a reply to the post, Buffaloes star quarterback Shedeur Sanders wrote:
"Bring them white on white ones."
Deion Jr. replied to Shedeur, writing:
"I'm about to go to his office. I'll FaceTime u in a second."
Coach Prime heralds Bucky's achievements
Bucky has had several exploits since he stopped playing football, indulging in rapping and starting a content creation company, which culminated in him doing social media management for Coach Prime when he was at Jackson State.
The explosion of popularity that the Colorado Buffaloes and especially the Sanders family have experienced since 2022 can be partially attributed to Bucky's consistent behind-the-scenes content, making them the talk of college football.
During an interview with USA Today, Deion Sanders heralded his son's videos' impact on potential recruits and just how much Bucky has done for the student-athletes in Colorado.
"Ninety-nine percent of them told me, 'Hey, man, we watch the videos every day,’" Sanders said. "You could have the best product on Earth, but if people don’t know about it, you’re not going to sell it. It’s showing how good of a product it is. It’s showing how great Boulder actually is.
"It helps with recruiting because everyone watches it. These kids with NIL, they want to start their own brands, too, because the more you’re seen … that puts more money in the athletes’ pockets, which a lot of them are worried about today."
As the Buffs and Coach Prime embark on season two of one of the most highly visible and intriguing projects in college sports, Bucky will once again have a huge say in how the world perceives Colorado.
