The Colorado Buffaloes were able to make a bowl game but were dominated by the BYU Cougars. One of the bigger issues that surrounded the program was the inability to protect quarterback Shedeur Sanders, as the offensive line had a rough time throughout the season.
It was announced on Sunday night that the Buffaloes landed former Texas A&M offensive tackle Aki Ogunbiyi in the NCAA Transfer Portal. He is expected to slide into the right tackle position and replace Tyler Brown on the offensive line.
Ogunbiyi has one year of eligibility remaining, and this is going to help the offense become a lot more consistent. He is 6-foot-4, 330 pounds, and played in three games during the 2024 college football season.
How does the addition of Aki Ogunbiyi help the Colorado Buffaloes in 2025?
The addition of offensive tackle Aki Ogunbiyi certainly will help Colorado next year as he brings ample experience in the Big 12 Conference and helps either transfer quarterback Kaidon Slater or true freshman quarterback JuJu Lewis stay upright.
The Buffaloes struggled with protecting the quarterback as the program ranks 123rd out of 133 teams with 39 sacks allowed. Adding a former four-star recruit to their offensive line is going to be an excellent option for the team.
While the offensive line is not the only reason for sacks, as the rest of the offense also needs to improve in the pass-blocking, this addition would help coach Deion Sanders' offense be a lot better in the 2025 season.
Who do the Colorado Buffaloes play in the 2025 season?
While we do not have the dates for the Big 12 Conference games, we do know the opponents that the Buffaloes will be facing throughout the year. This will be a good sign to project how this offensive line will hold up.
