For the first time in her career, Shelomi Sanders will not be at the same school as her brothers Shilo and Shedeur when the college basketball season tips off. Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders' daughter entered the transfer portal and transferred to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in April.
Although she moved away from Boulder, Shelomi has been attending Buffs games to support her brothers and her father and was present during the thrilling 38-31 win over the Baylor Bears in Week 5.
Ahead of the Buffs' Week 9 game against the Cincinnati Bearcats, she reposted a post containing her brothers Shedeur and Shilo on her Instagram stories.
Shelomi Sanders gets support from mother, differs from Coach Prime
On the "DVNR CU Buffs" podcast, after Shelomi Sanders entered the transfer portal in April, the outspoken Coach Prime did not mince his words about his daughter's move.
"(It) was stupid," Sanders said. "You don't enter the portal. You get a team before you enter the portal. You kinda get a team before you enter the portal. You know, that's what I would advise a child. And I know, 'Well it's illegal...' C'mon, man."
Afterward, in a clip posted on her YouTube channel, Pilar Sanders, Coach Prime's ex-wife who has enthusiastically supported her daughter on social media railed against how the Colorado coach had influenced his daughter's career straight from high school (2:40).
“When recruitment started out of high school going into college, and she was having colleges and universities starting to contact her, but the minute they did, yeah, her dad," Pilar says before the clip jumps to Shelomi saying, “Everyone thought I was going to JSU."
In the video, Pilar Sanders also addressed how Deion Sanders responded to Shelomi entering the transfer portal and made a big claim about the coach having favorites among his kids.
“When a child, a young adult, decides to step out on their own and even taking advice, not even in an arrogant way, not in a disrespectful way, but looking out for their own life, looking out for their own career, and doing what’s best to be done. The girl wants to play ball,” Pilar said. “How about supporting somebody else? We know you have your favorites. We all know that; we’ve all seen it throughout life.”
Shelomi Sanders and her father seem to have reconciled based on her presence in Boulder during the Colorado Buffaloes games, and the Sanders clan seems to be in harmony once again.
