Coach Prime's ex-wife, Pilar Sanders, shared a heartwarming response as Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes hit another milestone. Following their 34-23 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats, Colorado has risen in the latest AP Top 25 rankings.
They moved up two spots to No. 21 and debuted at No. 24 in the US LBM Coaches’ Poll.
Pilar reacted with excitement when Colorado Football posted an image celebrating their new rankings on Instagram.
The Buffs haven’t been ranked this late in a season since 2016 when they reached No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings and competed in the Pac-12 Championship.
Pilar also highlighted her son, QB Shedeur Sanders, a Heisman candidate this season. She shared a clip on her Instagram celebrating his achievements as Hula Bowl Offensive Player of the Week and a member of the 2024 Davey O’Brien Award Class.
Colorado is set to face Texas Tech (6-3, 4-2) on Saturday in Lubbock, Texas (2 p.m. MT, Fox).
Deion Sanders and Colorado's chances at winning the Big 12 title after Week 10 Bye
With an open Week 10 giving them a breather, the Colorado Buffaloes and Deion Sanders are eyeing a thrilling run toward the College Football Playoff. Despite slim odds, a playoff berth isn’t completely off the table, but they’ll need more than just their own wins to make it happen.
For Colorado, the first step is clear: they must win all their remaining regular-season games (Texas Tech, Utah, Kansas and Oklahoma State). It’s a doable stretch since three of these opponents sit near the bottom of the Big 12 standings. Yet, even if they run the table, winning the Big 12 championship is a must to secure a potential spot in the playoffs.
Currently, ESPN’s Football Power Index gives the Buffaloes an 8.8% chance to win the Big 12 title. Moreover, the door to the championship game could swing open if some rivals stumble. If Iowa State takes a loss against Kansas State, Colorado’s path to the conference final could clear up.
However, even if the Buffs claim the Big 12 title, they still need to rank at least fifth among conference champs or be among the seven highest-ranked programs outside the top five conference winners.
For Buffaloes fans, the next month could be a dramatic one as they chase a slim shot at CFP qualification.
