Coach Prime's Alamo Bowl hopes crumbled under BYU’s relentless defense, but his ex-wife, Pilar Sanders, found a way to keep spirits high for her sons, Shedeur and Shilo. The Buffaloes suffered a crushing 36-14 loss, but Pilar took to Instagram, showing her support with a hat sporting both sons’ jersey numbers: 2 for Shedeur and 21 for Shilo.
“🖤 #21.”
“🖤 #2.”
BYU’s defense stole the show on Saturday, racking up four sacks and two interceptions while holding Colorado to a meager two rushing yards. Shedeur managed 208 passing yards, completing 16-of-23 passes with two touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions. Meanwhile, Shilo’s eight tackles were a bright spot in an otherwise dismal showing.
The Buffaloes’ slow start haunted them again, and they fell into a 20-0 halftime deficit. While BYU (11-2) celebrated their performance, the Buffaloes (9-4) must regroup after a season of more highs than lows.
Coach Prime fought tears after coaching Shedeur and Shilo for the last time
Deion Sanders, the heart and soul of Colorado football’s resurgence, couldn’t hold back his emotions before coaching Shedeur and Shilo in their final game together. As the Alamo Bowl unfolded against BYU, Coach Prime reflected on a journey that spanned from pee-wee leagues to college football’s grandest stages.
Moments before kickoff, Sanders stood on the sideline, trademark sunglasses as memories flooded in. When ESPN’s Taylor McGregor asked about his feelings, the 57-year-old said:
“The journey. It’s been a tremendous, tumultuous journey.”
“I'm seeing when they first put on uniforms, when they first started. When I first started coaching them. The good, the bad, the indifference. The ups and downs. Just the journey, it's been a heck of a journey,” Coach Prime added. “And I'm thankful, I'm appreciative. I really am. I thank God for it.”
This wasn’t just about Shedeur and Shilo; it was about the extended family Sanders has built. Players like Travis Hunter, the two-way Heisman winner, and Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig, a defensive stalwart, shared this emotional chapter.
"I don’t look forward to it, but I do," Sanders admitted, knowing this marked a new beginning for his players.
For Coach Prime, this moment wasn’t just the end of a season; it was the culmination of a legacy built on grit, love, and the belief that his “sons” are ready to soar into their next chapter.
