Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders returned to his prior form after a poor performance last week in the defeat against the Kansas State Wildcats. Sanders had a successful performance in the victory against the Arizona Wildcats this week.
Deion Sanders' ex-wife Pilar Sanders shared a montage of the best plays made by Shilo Sanders on Instagram. The montage was accompanied by a caption:
"Just in case you missed any one of the highlights. Go Shilo Sanders"
In the performance that was heavily ridiculed by both coaches and fans alike, Shilo Sanders was only able to record six tackles in the game against Kansas State.
This week, if we only took his stat line as a metric of his performance, he did worse, recording only four tackles and one pass deflection. However, that does not tell the whole story. A week removed from his return from injury, Sanders looked more natural in his play and played like his usual self.
He was one of the main reasons why Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita was only able to record 134 yards. After the game, Sanders spoke about his performance, saying:
“Everybody goes through ups and downs. It was better for me to go through a down. It made me lock in, watch all my film and prepare to the highest level."
What he did in preparation for this game seems to have paid off, as his performance helped the Buffaloes record a comprehensive 34-7 victory over the Wildcats. This gave Colorado their fifth win of the season, putting them one win away from being bowl-eligible.
Shilo Sanders praises the defensive coordinator
During the post-game press conference that Shilo attended with his father Deion, he thanked his father for how he runs the program. But, after this, Shilo thanked the work of Colorado defensive coordinator Robert Livingston.
"He’s great. Having a pro coach come coach you, give you the knowledge, and get you ready for the next level. Thank you. I appreciate you.”
Robert Livingston has been with the Colorado Buffaloes beginning this season and was part of the rebuild that Deion Sanders did in the off-season.
Before his time with the Buffaloes, Livingston spent over 10 years with the Cincinnati Bengals. Here, he was able to rise up the ranks from a scout to their defensive backs coach, helping turn the Bengals into a strong defense.
Colorado is his first defensive coordinator role, and from the looks of it, he is doing a good job so far.
