Colorado coach Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders' sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, are leaving Boulder to join the NFL. The Buffaloes safety and quarterback played their last game in black and gold against the BYU Cougars on Dec. 28, losing 36-14 in the Alamo Bowl.
On Thursday, Coach Prime's ex-wife, Pilar Sanders, uploaded a tribute for her sons, donning a customized Colorado cap and jersey with their numbers printed on them: No. 2 for Shedeur and No. 21 for Shilo. She captioned the Instagram post:
"Game day gear, thank you @passionforezra 🖤🤍💛."
However, a college football fan got disheartened after seeing Pilar's post. The fan wrote in the comments section:
"College football will not be the same without 2&21😢."
Pilar replied:
"💯💯💯💯"
Shedeur and Shilo have been through thick and thin in Colorado. They have garnered lots of love and hate over two years of playing under their father. The quarterback-safety duo has come a long way from suffering the trolls after a disastrous 4-8 record in 2023 to a 9-4 finish with a bowl game in 2024.

Coach Prime couldn't control emotions before Alamo Bowl game
Colorado's coach wore his heart on his sleeve before the Alamo Bowl matchup against BYU. The game was a bittersweet milestone, as it was the last time he would coach his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, with whom he shares a deep bond.
Speaking during his press conference, Deion Sanders said:
“I don’t know how I’m gonna handle it. I know Travis is gonna trigger me. I know it because he always does, and he’s gonna bring tears out of my eyes. But I don’t look forward to it. But I do, because that means they’re going to another level, another chapter of life. And they’re gonna soar.”
Coach Prime walked with his sons onto the field at the Alamodome in San Antonio for the final time.
“I’m seeing when they first put on uniforms… The journey has been tremendous,” Deion told ESPN, struggling to hold back tears. “It’s tough knowing this chapter is closing.”
The Alamo Bowl was a farewell for Shedeur and Shilo, who now prepare for life in the NFL.
