Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes have been the center of attention in college football for the last two seasons. Thanks to a bounce-back 9-3 record in 2024, an elite quarterback (Shedeur Sanders), and a Heisman Trophy winner (Travis Hunter) there has been no shortage of eyes on Colorado and its head coach.

Unfortunately for the Buffaloes, not all attention has been good. On Senior Day versus Oklahoma State, Deion Sanders walked his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, to midfield without their mom and Sanders' ex-wife, Pilar Sanders. Upon reaching midfield, the Colorado head coach turned and jogged back to the sideline as soon as he saw Pilar waiting for her sons ahead.

Sanders walking with his sons without their mother drew backlash from fans. On Tuesday, Sanders set the record straight in an appearance on "The Pacman Jones Show."

Adam Jones couldn't help but laugh when bringing up the video to Sanders, to which Deion humorously replied, "You ain't no good, man."

"Let me tell you what I'm thinking," Sanders said, taking Jones through the moment. "I'm a punt returner, you're a punt returner, we see the field. We see the field, we see what's about to happen. I was sitting there thinking, 'I have to go give my team a pre-game speech.' So that's what I was thinking."

Sanders said that his genuine goals were to prepare his team for the upcoming kickoff against Oklahoma State and that he was not avoiding his ex-wife or the mother of his children. Colorado went on to crush the Cowboys 52-0, with five touchdowns from Sheduer Sanders and three receiving scores from Travis Hunter.

Colorado to take on BYU in Alamo Bowl

Deion Sanders will look to lead his team to a bowl-game victory in just his second season since taking over in Boulder. After a 9-3 campaign in the regular season, the Buffaloes drew a matchup versus the BYU Cougars in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28.

Colorado missed out on the Big 12 Conference Championship and the College Football Playoff but will have a chance to cap off their best season since 2016 on a high note versus BYU. The Buffaloes will attempt to snap a four-game losing streak in bowl games, with their last victory coming in the 2004 Houston Bowl.

The Buffaloes enter the Alamo Bowl as a 3.0-point favorite over BYU, coming off a dominant performance versus Oklahoma State on Senior Day.
