Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, had the internet laughing on Wednesday with a hilarious Instagram post featuring his son, Shilo Sanders, impersonating him. The Colorado Buffaloes have been grabbing headlines lately, especially after the Big 12 Media Days, but this light-hearted video brought a fun twist to their offseason.
Shilo, a Colorado safety and Deion's son, took center stage, mimicking his dad’s famous style and catchphrases. The video kicks off with Shilo imitating his father’s energetic coaching mannerisms, complete with Coach Prime's signature smile in the background.
“Dawg, y’all gotta get better dawg,” Shilo shouted, echoing Deion’s familiar drill sergeant tone. “You ain’t done nothing today at practice. C’mon, man, you ain’t gave us nothing, dawg. We gonna cut you. I’m getting tired of y’all. We getting rid of all the ball junk.”
In another scene, Shilo perfectly mimics his dad’s famous catchphrase:
“What's going on, baby? It's prime time.”
In the next scene, dressed in a Jackson State hoodie, Shilo nailed his father's famous motivational line:
“To need what you want, but want what you need. But need what you want to need.”
The most hilarious part was yet to come when Coach Prime’s quick-witted response from the sidelines told Shilo:
“Get out of my life, get off my team. I need you to transfer and get in the portal immediately.”
Paul Finebaum slams Coach Prime
Paul Finebaum discussed the Buffaloes' hype on ESPN’s "First Take," on Monday. He believes Colorado's buzz is all thanks to Deion Sanders, his son Shedeur Sanders, and Travis Hunter, but not the team's actual prowess.
“Deion Sanders is the best salesman I’ve ever seen," Finebaum said. "I personally love the guy for what he stands for. But the program looking out has a ridiculously inflated view of itself."
Further talking about Shedeur Sanders' comments about being "everyone's Super Bowl," Finebaum said:
“Shedeur, you are not. You are an easy win nowadays. You got off to a phenomenal start last year beating a couple of mediocre teams that had big names. And quite frankly you haven’t done anything since other than crash and burn.”
Finebaum expressed doubt that Prime Time will ever lead Colorado to the playoffs.
“They’re not going to the playoffs this year, and I’m not sure Deion Sanders is ever going to get them to the playoffs, because I don’t think he has the patience to stay at Colorado long enough,” he said [h/t SI].
According to Finebaum, while Coach Prime may be a significant figure, Colorado remains irrelevant in the grand scheme of college football.
