Coach Prime sent a farewell message to Colorado's departing defensive ends coach, Vincent Dancy, on Tuesday. Deion Sanders responded to Dancy's farewell tweet thanking the CU coach for being a part of his journey.
Sanders referenced iconic actor Denzel Washginton's voice while giving Dancy his farewell.
"My brother! Denzel’s voice," Sanders quote-tweeted on Dancy's thankful message.
Dancy has reportedly accepted the defensive ends coaching role at Mississippi State.
"Thank you @DieonSanders for everything," Dancy wrote in his farewell message. "You believed in me and gave me an opportunity that I will never forget. I appreciate you for being a blessing more than you will ever know. You and PT will always be an integral part of my life and career. I’m for ever grateful for the memories and growth and unwavering support throughout my journey."
Dancy played as a linebacker and safety at Jackson State from 2002 to 2005. He then ventured into coaching in 2009, beginning his career with the Tigers where he joined the staff as a graduate assistant.
In 2014, Dancy worked as the defensive coordinator for Paine. He had the same role with Mississippi Valley State from 2015 to 2017, before being promoted to head coach.
Dancy joined Colorado in 2023 as the defensive quality control coach. During CU's 2024 season, he served as the defensive ends coach. In two years working alongside Coach Prime, Dancy helped the Buffs compile a 13-12 record.
Coach Prime to remain in Colorado even after his sons Shilo and Shedeur go pro
Coach Prime's sons, Shilo and Shedeur, are set to enter the 2025 NFL draft. Since the two are leaving, Sanders' future with the Buffs has been the subject of speculation. However, Sanders has often said he would continue working in Colorado, even after his sons go to the NFL.
Sanders has been linked with a handful of NFL teams looking for coaches. This offseason could be important for Colorado to keep Sanders in Boulder.
Sanders signed a reported five-year, $29.5 million contract with the Buffs in December 2022. The deal ties him to Colorado through the 2027 season.
