The Coaches Poll for the final week in the regular season of the 2024 college football season has been released.
This poll has no impact on the College Football Playoff selection, but it is a useful way to see who the coaches think are the best teams in the country.
So, here is a look at the Top 10.
The Coaches Poll Top 10
#1 Oregon Ducks
The Ducks did not play this week but are still seen as the team to beat by all. After the chaos seen in this week's games, the Ducks are the only undefeated team left in college football, which only cements their status as the best in the country.
#2 Ohio State Buckeyes
The Buckeyes kept themselves in the running for a spot in the Big Ten Championship game with a convincing win over the Indiana Hoosiers. A win in 'The Game' next week will create a rematch with the Ducks.
#3 Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns are contenders for the national championship. Despite a couple of less-than-convincing victories, they are looking like a team that will challenge for the SEC Championship (which they will head into the final week leading).
#4 Penn State Nittany Lions
The Nittany Lions are not in contention for a spot in the Big Ten Championship game, and only defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers by one point. However, the coaches see the one-loss Penn State team as the fourth-best in the country.
#5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Fighting Irish have recovered from their embarrassing defeat to Northern Illinois earlier in the season by playing dominant football in the rest of the campaign. This week, they gave Army their first loss of the season, sealing a definite Playoff spot for the team.
#6 Georgia Bulldogs
Despite their two defeats and a win over a non-conference team, the Bulldogs are ranked at number six. This may be due to the fact that they have won their spot in the SEC Championship game, and the rest of the conference seemed to struggle this week.
#7 Miami Hurricanes
Last time out, the Hurricanes suffered a shock defeat to Georgia Tech. This week, they kept their hopes of making the ACC Championship game alive with a convincing win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
#8 Tennessee Volunteers
The Volunteers are in the same spot as Georgia, minus the championship game spot. They easily defeated a non-conference opponent and only appeared to rise in the rankings due to the performances of their conference rivals.
#9 SMU Mustangs
The Mustangs had a fantastic week. They remained undefeated in the ACC conference and have qualified for the Conference championship game, facing either Miami or Clemson.
#10 Indiana Hoosiers
The Hoosiers did not have a good week. Their record-breaking undefeated season came to an end against the Ohio State Buckeyes, and their hopes of making the Big Ten Championship game may be dashed as well. However, they should be able to make the playoffs.
