College Football 25 Homecoming pack: Latest update on EA Sports game, price details and more

With barely a month until the much-anticipated return of the popular game EA Sports College Football 25, fans are getting excited about it. Various entities are also taking advantage of the headlines generated by the game to partner with the franchise.

Franchise and gaming retailer GameStop has collaborated on a special Homecoming Pack edition of the game. It will retail at $149.99 and include an EA Sports 25 replica jersey, a CFB-branded football and a detailed miniature locker.

EA Sports College Football game well received by players

The return of the game was touted in 2021, and it has been under development for three years, marking 11 years since the last edition was released among a slew of lawsuits by student-athletes.

This time, players who opted in were rewarded with $600 and a copy of the game in line with NIL regulations. Despite a few notable players like Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning opting out, the reception was overwhelmingly positive.

During a briefing with reporters, EA Sports game designer Ben Haumiller revealed the thinking behind the game's release and how student-athletes reacted to it.

“We were trying to think ‘What’s the critical mass?'” Ben Haumiller said. “Like, what does this mean? When they sign up, who’s going to opt in, who’s not and how is this all going to work out? There are concerns right, you’re getting that clenching moment of like, ‘Is this going to work?’

"And then you start seeing that overwhelming response that the players want this game back just as much as we all do. So that was really such a great piece for us all to see.”

The cover image models chosen for the College Football reboot include Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers, Michigan Wolverines running back Donovan Edwards and Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter. The new edition, set to be released on July 19, is expected to shatter previous sales records.

The game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with the standard edition retailing at $69.99. The deluxe edition will have early access and retail at $99.99 while the MVP bundle will retail for $149.99, putting together both Madden and CFB 25 early release.

The EA College Football franchise indicated that the 2025 iteration will be the first of a continued series that will constantly get new and updated game modes every season like in the past.
