College Football 25 overtook Elden Ring as the top-selling game in Australia for the week, pushing it to third place behind Grand Theft Auto V. In New Zealand, it takes the top spot ahead of NBA 2K24, Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

According to GameRant, EA Sports College Football 25 sold over 2.2 million copies of the Deluxe Edition in three days before the official release date of July 19. The Deluxe Edition of the game retails for $99.99 and offered three days of early access to the full game for players who purchased that particular edition.

The Deluxe Edition of the game brought in over $200 million before the game was officially released. EA also offered early access to a trial of the game through their EA Play subscription service.

It was reported that over 600,000 players accessed the game through the EA Play Trial, which only added to the financial success the game brought to the company.

Circana's executive director of video games, Mat Piscatella, reported that the game ranked No. 3 in the US daily active users on Xbox and fourth on PS5, prior to its official launch.

In addition to early game sales, Variety reported that a record five million players booted up the game in the first week of the game's availability.

The high player count and sky-high sales for the latest college football game from EA Sports could be a positive trend for the future of sports games. The Madden NFL series has seen low scores on Metacritic recently, and some players have grown upset with the increased monetization within the NBA 2K series.
