The college football transfer portal is now open, and several players have entered the portal. Further, several players have declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
With bowl games set to begin shortly, some players entering the portal or declaring for the draft will opt out of the game. As bowl games get closer, more and more players will opt out as they enter the 2025 NFL Draft.
Here's a list of the players who have opted out of a bowl game.
College Football Bowl Game Opt-Out Tracker
Luther Burden Jr., WR, Missouri
The Missouri Tigers will play the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30 at 2:30 p.m. ET.
However, Missouri will be without star receiver Luther Burden Jr. who has declared for the draft and opted out.
"It has always been my dream to play in the NFL," Burden said in a statement. "I am blessed to have a family and community that have helped support this dream and fuel me to put in the work in pursuit of this goal."
Burden Jr. announced on social media and is expected to be a first-round pick. This season, Burden Jr. recorded 61 receptions for 676 yards and six touchdowns.
Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa
Iowa Hawkeyes running back Kaleb Johnson won't play in the team's Music City Bowl against the Missouri Tigers.
Johnson announced on social media that he will declare for the 2025 NFL Draft.
"After much thought and reflection, I have decided to take the next step and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft," Johnson wrote on social media. "This decision was not made lightly but it is with great excitement and anticipation that I embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead."
Johnson rushed for 1,537 yards and 21 touchdowns this season with Iowa. Johnson is expected to be a Day 2 pick, and most likely will be selected in the third round.
