During the Big 12 Media Days in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders made headlines with his comments to the media. Sanders had said that every opponent the Buffaloes face this season would treat the matchup like their "Super Bowl."

"I know we’re everybody’s Super Bowl so I always just stay level-headed and stay grounded because I would never want to be that guy that looks back and not be able to take advantage of the moment we have right now,” the quarterback told reporters.

Shedeur Sanders' assertion that Colorado was seen as everyone's Super Bowl drew significant criticism from the media and fans, who have been skeptical of coach Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders and his program since he took over in Boulder.

On Thursday, college football insider and co-host of "The Next Round Live," Lance Taylor, expressed his frustration over Shedeur Sanders' comments and said:

"Is there a more delusional group of players and coaches than that group that resides out in Boulder, Colorado, coming out of Big 12 media days with Deion Sanders and the crew yesterday? Is that organization more delusional than any SEC fan base, than any SEC coaches, player combination? Where everybody's Super Bowl?"

Highlighting Colorado's struggles, Taylor said:

"We talked about this yesterday, sacked 52 times, still had 27 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. You might be undefeated in the SWAC, you're 1-8 in the Pac-12. They still were four and eight. They lost seven of their final eight games."

Further criticizing the team, Taylor said:

"You are not the Superbowl. I think you might be the Superbowl for the simple fact that teams hate you because of what you believe you are. And they want to beat you into oblivion like Oregon did last year. But I just, I don't get the Colorado hype and I don't have a big expectation for this team."

Deion Sanders prioritizes protecting QB son Shedeur Sanders in the upcoming season

Following a challenging debut season with a 4-8 record and a last-place finish in the Pac-12, Colorado coach Deion Sanders emphasized a critical change needed for the Buffaloes to compete in the Big 12 during the conference's media day on Wednesday.

"We got to protect that quarterback," Sanders said.

Last season, Shedeur Sanders was the most sacked quarterback in the country, with 52 sacks. In response, Sanders overhauled the offensive line, bringing in former NFL offensive lineman Phil Loadholt as the new line coach.

Additionally, Colorado acquired six offensive linemen during the early transfer window, including two with Power Five experience and top recruit Jordan Seaton.

Despite these changes, the Buffs were predicted to finish 11th in the conference’s preseason poll. However, Sanders expressed a winning mindset at the media day and said:

"I'd be an idiot to sit over here and not tell you we plan on winning. I don't know who sits down and says they don't plan on winning. You got to be an idiot to say that. We definitely plan on winning, and first and foremost, it starts with the staff. I think we have over 140 years of NFL experience on the staff."

Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes kick off their season on Aug. 29 at home against FCS opponent North Dakota State.
