Deion Sanders has been able to turn around the Colorado Buffaloes football program. He has turned the struggling team into a team that may still be struggling on the field, but they now have the eyes of the nation on them. This season, the Buffaloes already have four wins, matching their win total from last season.

However, with all the attention that Sanders is recieving, many are thinking that he could use this job as a springboard to another job, especially after his two sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, leave the program at the end of this season.

This may have worried Colorado Athletic Director Rick George, who told On3.com that he wanted Sanders to stay with the program for as long as he can:

"We hope that Coach Prime finishes his career here. I think he can do significant things for us long term ... I think Coach would sit here and tell you that he and I are on the same page about where we want this program to go. It's not a short-term fix, and we want to set it up to be sustainable for the future."

From his comments, George is confident that Sanders is going to stay with the Buffaloes program for a while.

In the two seasons he has been with the team, he has been able to slowly improve their fortunes, and this year they are set to make a bowl game for the first time since the 2020 season, where they were heavily defeated by the Texas Longhorns in the Alamo Bowl.

But, it needs to be mentioned that the 2020 season was shortened due to the pandemic, and the Buffaloes only won four games that year. The last time Colorado made a bowl game through the traditional six wins was in 2016, again at the Alamo Bowl, where they lost to the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Their last bowl game victory was in 2004.

If Deion Sanders were to win a bowl game this year, it would signal a massive improvement in the fortunes of the Buffaloes, and give Rick George hope that if he were to stay with the program, Sanders could be able to turn the Buffaloes into a contender for the Big 12 championship.

Can Deion Sanders win five games with the Buffaloes?

Deion Sanders can continue his hunt to deliver the Colorado Buffaloes their best season in nearly 10 years this weekend, when they face the No. 18 ranked Kansas State Wildcats. This is likely to be Colorado's biggest game of the season so far, and a victory here will be a massive statement to the rest of the Big 12.

The matchup will be a battle between two strong quarterbacks, with Shedeur Sanders looking to get the better of Avery Johnson.

However, while Colorado has a strong pass game with the pair of Sanders and Travis Hunter, the Wildcats are good on the ground with running back DJ Giddens recording 600 yards on the season so far.

The performance of these players will be the difference between victory and defeat for Deion Sanders.
