Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders has often been in the limelight for his outspoken personality. Over the years, he has divided opinion over his style of coaching and engaging the media. Undoubtedly, the charismatic coach has cut a niche for himself as a cult-like figure who has always attracted attention.
Sanders was in fine form during his Colorado Media Days news conference, shutting down two reporters in the process. The first reporter was CBS4 Denver's Eric Christensen whose questions he declined to take while criticizing the news organization.
“CBS,” Sanders said to Christensen. “I’m not doing nothing with CBS. Next question. It ain’t got nothing to do with you. It’s above that. It ain’t got nothing to do with you. I got love for you. I appreciate you. I respect you. It ain’t got nothing to do with you. They know what they did.
“You are who you are. CBS is CBS. It ain’t got nothing to do with you. I respect you. That’s why I told you that, I’m looking you in the eye as a man,” Deion Sanders said. “I respect you. I got love for you, but what they did was foul.”
The next reporter to face Coach Prime's wrath was the Denver Post's Sean Keeler whom he addressed directly.
“Why do you not like us? You don’t like us, man. Why do you do this to yourself?... No, I’m serious,” Sanders said.
Deion Sanders addresses damaging media report
Last week, Steve Corder of Athlon Sports published a damaging report about the state of the Colorado dressing room under coach Deion Sanders. The report claimed that the dressing room culture promoted untold violence which includes bullying, a rampant gun culture and a culture of violence.
The sources for the article are disgruntled former players who were encouraged to enter the transfer portal by Coach Prime.
Sanders responded to the article in a clip posted on X denying its claims and speculating whether there should be ramifications for making such claims.
"That's when they know you are doing well, when they start lying. Shouldn't there be some kind of penalty or ramification? But nevertheless we have the highest GPA in the history of the school. Wonder how they do that?" Sanders said in the clip.
Deion Sanders has always freely courted controversy throughout his career, especially as a coach with his coaching methods. With the recent media report about the dressing room culture he has fostered, he will likely be under the microscope even more.
