Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders has shown consideration for his players multiple times in the past, with the student-athletes under his charge often pinpointing that aspect as a reason why they like to play for him.
He showed his consideration recently when he shared a precious moment with Buffs cornerback Nahmier Robinson, the son of former NBA star Nate Robinson, that was caught on video.
The cornerback's father recently revealed that he had renal kidney failure and that he did not have long to live if he did not get a kidney soon.
In the clip, Deion Sanders called the player to the sidelines and asked him how he was doing while reassuring him.
“Three-four, how you doing?” Sanders said. “You know what I mean, how you doing? How you doing? If need us let me know. Alright? I’m proud of you boy. Keep balling man.”
Nate Robinson revealed that his kidneys started failing after he was diagnosed with high blood pressure in 2006 when he was a New York Knicks player, and while speaking to the Daily Mail a few days ago he revealed his battle with renal failure.
"I know that I don't have long if I can't get a kidney," Nate Robinson said. "I know I'm not going to have long to live. So, I just want to make the best of it as much as I can."
Nate Robinson tweeted about the moment shared between his son and the charismatic Deion Sanders, appreciating the sentiment.
“Brings tears to my eyes of joy watching my son and my favorite football player share a moment, thanks Coach prime for helping turn my baby boy into a man/Dawg,” Robinson tweeted.
Deion Sanders loses Cormani McClain
Colorado coach Deion Sanders was recently the recipient of bad news after five-star prospect cornerback Cormani McClain announced that he was entering the transfer portal from the Buffaloes.
McClain initially flipped his commitment from the Miami Hurricanes to play for Sanders but had trouble playing consistently with the Buffs coach questioning his discipline. He didn't play in Colorado's first three games last season.
"Study, prepare," Sanders said in September. "Study, prepare, be on time for meetings, show up to the darn meetings (McClain). Understand what we're doing as a scheme. Want to play this game; desire to play this game. Desire to be the best in this game at practice, in the film room and on your own free time. You would be a fool to put somebody out there and they're unprepared. Can't do it. Won't do it, can't do it."
Cormani McClain was the highest-ranked prospect recruited by Deion Sanders for Colorado, and his departure is a big blow, although it will likely give a chance to Nahmier Robinson to shine.
