Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter has had a strong start to the season despite his team's struggles against the North Dakota State Bison and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
During an episode of the popular Buffs star's podcast, "The Travis Hunter Show," Hunter revealed his feelings of disappointment at popular rapper Lil Wayne's snub for the Super Bowl halftime show in favor of Kendrick Lamar. He said:
"Kendrick Lamar being the halftime Super Bowl 59 halftime performance, it's gonna be in New Orleans, which is kind of crazy cause I was thinking it was gonna be Lil Wayne all the way, and I'm about to be out there running on the field 'six foot, seven foot, eight foot hutch. Tryna go out there and be lit with Lil Wayne."
In a viral clip posted on "Well Off Media's" YouTube channel after the Buffs beat the Bison in week one, Lil Wayne praised Hunter's sensational two-way performance.
“T Hunter, Travis Hunter that they talking about a unicorn. Nah Nah, You gotta come up with a word we ain’t said before, like that boy is something we ain’t seen before,” Lil Wayne said.
Travis Hunter addresses Nebraska atmosphere in pod
Although Travis Hunter was his usual efficient self registering 110 yards on 10 receptions, three tackles and one for loss and one pass deflection, the Colorado Buffaloes were soundly beaten 28-10 in Lincoln by the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
During an episode of his podcast, the Buffs star admitted that the Cornhuskers led by quarterback Dylan Raiola deserved the win and even praised the Memorial Stadium's atmosphere.
"They came out fast. They hit us in the mouth. We had no response. That's pretty much what happened. And Nebraska is a good team. They beat us fair and square," Hunter said.
"That environment was top 10," Hunter said. "That little light show in the fourth quarter, that was cool, too. I ain't even gonna lie. That was a good little show, boy. Their fans were loud on third down, when you break the huddle, when you get in the huddle. I couldn't even think to myself out loud. Yeah, shout out to Nebraska."
The Cornhuskers were 28-0 up at halftime, and Hunter was pictured on the sidelines looking angry during the game where the Buffs lost safety Shilo Sanders to a broken forearm and quarterback Shedeur Sanders to a head injury.
Next up for Travis Hunter and the Colorado Buffaloes is a trip to the Canvas Stadium to face off against mortal rivals, the Colorado State Rams, against whom he had sustained a liver laceration injury last season.
