Miss Peggy is one of biggest fans of the Colorado Buffaloes and has been since her family moved to Colorado in 1939. To show gratitude for her support and to celebrate her life as a fan, she was brought on Fox's "Big Noon Kickoff" as a guest.
While she was on the show, the hosts of the show and fans in the crowd sang 'Happy Birthday' as a cake was brought out. The moment made her emotional as tears welled up in her eyes. The Buffaloes clearly mean a lot to her, especially since her twin sister passed away in 2020.
Miss Peggy has a special bond with head coach Deion Sanders
Peggy never misses a Buffaloes game if her health permits it. She has been around the team a lot in recent years, and coach Deion Sanders has gone out of his way to form a bond with her. He was there when she signed an NIL deal, making her the first fan to receive one.
Sanders helped Peggy strike a deal with Blenders to create her own sunglasses sleeve. Blenders announced the deal with a statement:
"For over 80 years, Miss Peggy’s unwavering support has embodied true fandom. In a historic first, Miss Peggy is the first fan to receive a NIL deal, with $1 from each sleeve sold going to her—a small gesture for her lifetime of dedication. Miss Peggy’s legacy inspires not just players but entire generations."
Getting involved with fashion made sense for Peggy as she became known as the 'drip queen' in February. She got the nickname when she accompanied a few members of the Buffaloes' offensive line to sit on a throne while wearing a CU bomber jacket for a promotional photo shoot.
Sanders and the Buffaloes have rallied around Peggy this season. Before the season, Sanders promised that he would get Colorado to a bowl game for her. He has since revised the goal.
"We were not trying to get to the bowl game now. We’re trying to get her to THE game. Miss Peggy, in her own tremendous, loving way gives all of us hope. She gives all of us that unspeakable joy, that love, that respect.
The Buffaloes have not been to the National Championship Game since 1990 when they defeated Notre Dame to win the title.
