The Colorado Buffaloes (5-2) defeated the Arizona Wildcats (3-4) 34-7 on Saturday. The win, led by quarterback Shedeur Sanders, helped the Buffaloes get back in the win column after losing 31-28 to No. 17 Kansas State last week.

Conversely, the loss continued a three-game losing streak for the Arizona Wildcats. They have not won since defeating Utah 23-10 on Sept. 28. Entering the game, they were slight betting favorites to win, but the Buffaloes were able to easily handle the Wildcats. The Buffs even chose to rest two-way star Travis Hunter in the second half as a precautionary move because they already had a big lead.

Sanders had a dominant passing game, throwing for 112 more yards than Noah Fifita on only seven more attempts. Additionally, he was more successful in throwing touchdown passes, with two compared to Fifita's one. The biggest blemish on Sanders' passing game against Arizona is he had two interceptions compared to one from Fifita.

However, Fifita was more effective as a runner for Arizona. He carried the ball five more times than Sanders and averaged more than a yard per carry. However, those stats are skewed because Fifita had one run for 24 yards, which accounts for all of his rushing yards. Sanders also had a rushing touchdown which Fifita did not.

Colorado performance analysis

Looking at Colorado's team stats, it is not hard to see why the Buffaloes won the game. They had 405 yards gained in the game, including 250 passing yards. They only had two turnovers, both of which were interceptions, and they had 21 first downs. Additionally, CU was excellent on third down, converting 50% of the time.

Arizona performance analysis

Arizona's stats are much less impressive, as you would expect from a game that ended 34-7. The Wildcats only had 245 yards gained and 16 first downs. They had more turnovers with three, including two fumbles. Lastly, the biggest issue for the Wildcats was their third down conversion. They only converted three times on 11 attempts.
