Former Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy has announced his retirement from football. McCoy has spent the last 14 years in the NFL.
McCoy played four years at Texas but spent five years with the program as he redshirted his first year. The quarterback had plenty of success with the Longhorns as he was drafted in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft. After a successful collegiate and pro career, McCoy has retired but already has his next job lined up.

Colt McCoy has been hired by NBC Sports as an analyst for Big Ten football coverage, the media company announced on Monday.
“In a standout career at Texas, Colt McCoy starred in many of college football’s biggest games and fiercest rivalries,” Sam Flood, Executive Producer and President, NBC Sports Production, said in a statement. “What a way to kick it off with Colorado-Nebraska!”
“College Football has always held a special place in my heart. With the expansion of the Big Ten and new era of College Football, it is the perfect time to join NBC Sports,” McCoy said. “I can’t wait to share in the passion, excitement, and competitive spirit every week!”
McCoy is set to serve as a game analyst and will also appear on the "Big Ten College Countdown" studio, the press release stated. McCoy will make his debut alongside Paul Burmeister (play-by-play) and Kathryn Tappen (sideline reporter) for the Colorado Buffaloes vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers game on "Big Ten Saturday Night" on Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
McCoy does have experience in calling football games, as in 2023 he called USFL matchups for NBC Sports.
Colt McCoy was a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist during his four-year stint with Texas. In his collegiate career, McCoy played in 53 games, throwing for 13,243 yards and 112 touchdowns.
In his 14-year NFL career, McCoy started 36 games and has an 11-25 record with 7,975 passing yards, 34 touchdowns and 32 interceptions.
