Deion Sanders is undoubtedly one of the greatest benefactors of the transfer portal. When he took the job ahead of the 2023 college football season, the coach deployed it to overhaul Colorado's roster. He was also active on it during the previous offseason, and he is set to recruit on it once again.
However, it appears the coach hasn't got enough players as much as he would have wanted in the current window. The Buffaloes have lost a lot of players to the portal and have only received a couple of commitments.
With the closing date of the fall transfer portal fast approaching, Deion Sanders is not joking around with us potential recruits. The coach sent out a sincere message on social media on Friday.
“To whom it may concern, commit and stop Playing," Sanders wrote. “You Gotta Believe baby Believe! #CoachPrime.”
Deion Sanders assures Colorado remains active on the transfer portal
In his media availability on Tuesday, Deion Sanders assured fans that Colorado is actively recruiting from the transfer portal. The Buffs have secured a couple of commitments already, but they are out for more.
“Glad to be back. We never stop recruiting so I haven’t left doing that. We have some wonderful – phenomenal young men up here that we want them to join this magnificent team. I think we secured commitments from darn near everybody.
“They probably had not committed yet, but I know what I know. They’re going to help us in tremendous positions, and the quality of young men we're getting are phenomenal. So proud of all the staff.
The Buffaloes will be losing a host of top players, including Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, to the upcoming 2025 NFL draft. This requires the team to prepare a strong roster ahead of the 2025 season in a bid to maintain the momentum they built this season.
The Deion Sanders-led program has done pretty well with high school recruits in the class of 2025, securing a top quarterback prospect, Julian Lewis and other highly rated prospects like Carde Smith, London Merritt, Adam Wilson and a host of others.
