Fans would love for McClain to return to the field soon, too, given his potential. While he has been called "not SEC material," McClain's mother believes his son will be on track soon. She said:

"You're gonna have some good days and bad days … Continue to believe in yourself, the team, and your coaches. Better days will come."

Cormani McClain's controversial past with Colorado

The five-star, talented cornerback started at Lakeland Senior High and later joined the Colorado Buffaloes under coach Deion Sanders.

McClain was then transferred to the Florida Gators in May 2024. His exit from Colorado, however, drew attention, mainly due to allegations of teammate misconduct and a toxic team environment.

Serious issues about Colorado, including bullying, violence, and even incidents involving weapons, were some of the things reported. McClain also claimed he faced physical abuse from Shilo Sanders, Coach Prime's son, which allegedly culminated in a post-game altercation.

The fallout left McClain mentally exhausted and prompted his return to Florida. Another anonymous former player revealed:

“Cormani was taking a lot of heat ... At the same time Coach Prime was saying he was in the doghouse and needed to improve, Cormani was getting bullied by Shilo (Sanders). After the Oregon State game, Shilo slapped him several times, which left Cormani screaming 'I'm going to kill you' repeatedly. It’s hard when the coaches you trust are calling you derogatory names.”

McClain’s time with the Gators was equally turbulent. Rumors emerged about disciplinary issues, and coach Billy Napier ultimately removed him from the roster before the season began.

While questions persist about the environments McClain experienced and the truth, his once-promising career hangs in the balance.
