Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders went 23-of-29 for 266 yards resulting in three touchdowns during the Buffaloes' 37-21 loss to the Kansas Jayhawks in Week 13. In the first half of the game, Sanders suffered a brutal hit below the knees from Kansas defensive end Dean Miller for which there was no penalty.
Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt blasted Miller for the late tackle on Shedeur highlighting the ramifications for the quarterback under different circumstances.
"There was something that happened in that game and I gotta tell you, I am thankful that Shedeur Sander's feet were not firmly planted on the ground," Klatt said. "When that Kansas defender took one of the cheapest shots at Shedeur that I have seen in a long, long time. Sanders is rolling out of the pocket, No. 45 (Miller) comes up and he missiles his knees.
"If Shedeur Sander's feet were firmly in the ground and planted, that is every ligament in his knee, it might be a broken leg. That could be a career-ender. That was one of the cheapest shots I've seen in a long time."
Klatt called for Miller to be punished after the defensive end continued to needle Shedeur Sanders throughout the game.
"And it didn't end there by the way," Klatt added. "Later in the game, No. 45 is kind of giving Sanders the business and that's why Shedeur stands up and is kind of shoving and it's like 'Shedeur shoved the official.' Bullcr*p! That was cheap, very cheap and if I was Lance Leipold (Kansas coach) that player would be disciplined because that reflects very poorly, very poorly."
Shedeur Sanders gets away with shoving the official
After taking a brutal hit by Dean Miller, Shedeur Sanders got involved with the Kansas Jayhawks defensive end later in the game after a missed call by the officials leading to him shoving a match official.
Fox Sports rules analyst Mike Pereira revealed that Sanders was lucky to get away without an ejection.
“Look, I get why he is upset because people are almost climbing over him after he was down," Pereira said. "But, you know, the officials can use their hands all they want to try to keep the order. But you cannot come back as a player and push the official. And the chaos the officials didn’t see, but he’s lucky he wasn’t ejected from the game.”
The Kansas Jayhawks' game was a rocky one for Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes despite the quarterback's commendable performance and his frustrations showed in his actions.
